Verio
Europe Delivers High-Performance Managed Hosting Solution
for Subaru World Rally Team [January 14, 2005]
Verio
Europe selected as key technical partner
Englewood,
Colo., January 14, 2005 - Verio Europe, a subsidiary
of NTT Communications, today announced an agreement
with the Subaru World Rally Team to host the team's
extensive website. Verio will also become a technology
partner for the Subaru World Rally Team. Verio Europe
will provide critical Internet infrastructure, managed
security services and high performance online solutions
for The Subaru World Rally Team website at swrt.com.
The Subaru World Rally Team site will
provide fans with live information about team news,
rally news and latest images throughout the World Rally
Championship. The site is visited by an estimated 160,000
fans during each rally, a total of over 2.5 million
visitors throughout the championships. The site has
a subscribed fan base of 50,000 members and is one of
the most popular sites in the championship, containing
a variety of interactive material including live event
results, factory tours, driver and team information,
an online merchandise store and an image library of
over 3,000 high resolution images.
Verio Europe will deliver content in
real time for the Subaru World Rally Team site with
its Verio Smart Content Delivery service. The Smart
Content Delivery (SCD) solution is a collection of intelligent
content delivery services that allows event sites with
peaks in Internet traffic to distribute content more
effectively, efficiently and intelligently. Via the
SCD solution, website content is cached and distributed
on multiple SCD servers located in the US, Europe and
Asia. Bandwidth is provided via high-speed connections
as needed.
“During live stages of the rally,
the site is updated every 30 seconds with information
from the leader-board including weather conditions,
driver sound-bites, accidents, technical bulletins and
an insight into each driver's performance,” said
Colin Clark, SWRT commercial manager. “We needed
a technical partner whose solution would be specifically
built around high peaks of traffic followed by troughs,
Verio's solution is an exact fit for us.”
“Verio Europe and Subaru are a
perfect match - both companies are leading innovators
in their fields, involved in innovative technology.
Verio and Subaru are global world leaders in their field,
both coming from a strong Japanese heritage and are
wholly focused on three key competitive goals: power,
performance and results,” said Martin Davis, vice
president for Verio Europe.
Verio Europe is rapidly expanding its
capabilities in the sports industry. High profile wins
such as UEFA, The FA and International Tennis Federation
(ITF) have firmly established Verio Europe as the technology
partner of choice for sport organizations. Verio Europe
delivers the solution that enables sports federations
to use technology to improve business processes and
increase their competitive appeal to worldwide sports
fans.
The World Rally Championship commences
in Monte Carlo on January 21, 2005 and then tours through
an additional 15 countries on four continents, finishing
in Australia on November 13, 2005.

About
The Subaru World Rally Team
Established in 1958, Subaru has been involved in the
sport of rallying since the early 1980s, but became
a serious World Championship player in 1990 when it
formed a partnership with British motorsport company
Prodrive to establish the Subaru World Rally Team. Subaru
rocketed to success and became World Champion Manufacturer
just five years later. Since then the team has won a
further five FIA titles and, thanks to the popularity
of its cars and drivers, enjoys cult status among fans
the world over. No other car manufacturer is as closely
associated with rallying.
The team provides a comprehensive media
information service both on and off rallies via its
website. Live stage times, news flashes, leg bulletins,
driver quotes, interviews and up-to-the-minute information
can be found at www.swrt.com . A selection of high-resolution
images is also available for free download from the
website's gallery.
