Releases HostingDirector 3.6 for Windows [8th
April 2003]
NEWTON, Mass., Apr 8, 2003 /PRNewswire
via COMTEX/ -- Sphera Corporation, the leading global
provider of Web hosting automation and management software,
today announced general availability of HostingDirector(R)
3.6 for Windows, adding extended capabilities to support
dynamic and complex Web sites. HostingDirector is a
major component of Sphera's HostingBusiness Suite(TM)
product family, a complete Web hosting automation and
management solution. Sphera incorporated input from
its Web hosting customer base to make HostingDirector
for Windows the superior choice for cost reduction and
improved account retention.
HostingDirector 3.6, the third generation
of Sphera's Windows platform, delivers enhanced productivity
tools and updated ValueApps(R) that combine to create
a flexible, self-service, operating environment for
today's Web hosting companies and carriers. Key features
of the release include:
-- Email Server Software Developer's
Kit (SDK): Sphera currently offers full integration
with three leading mail servers: Ipswitch IMail, Rockliffe
MailSite and XMail, a free email server solution. For
hosting providers that use an alternative solution,
Sphera's Email Server SDK conveniently enables the integration
of any mail server with the Sphera platform.
-- Extended ValueApps: 'Point &
Click' utilities to integrate popular Web hosting applications
including Miva, Microsoft FrontPage2002, ASP.net, Cold
Fusion MX , Server Side Includes (SSI), PHP, Perl and
Python.
-- Bandwidth Enforcement: The Sphera
solution features an innovative, easy-to-use tool for
monitoring and enforcing bandwidth consumption. Bandwidth
enforcement gives hosting providers new revenue opportunities
with the ability to charge premiums for varying bandwidth
consumption levels and overages.
-- Regionalized Windows Support: HostingDirector
3.6 for Windows adds support for regional versions of
Windows, expanding on Sphera's multilingual GUI capabilities
critical to seamless global business.
"The Windows hosting market is
continuing to grow at a considerable pace. As it begins
to gain ground as an alternative platform, we need to
be supportive of market needs. Our customers are very
interested in having a multi-platform environment to
sustain their growing user base. The key is being able
to offer equivalent, dynamic functionality in both Linux
and Windows platforms. We offer uniformity in both at
a time that Windows is catching up as an alternative
Web hosting platform," says Roy Saar, vice president
product management, Sphera.
"Sphera has gained ground in both
maturity and stability of the Windows product and has
taken a solid step forward in supporting the needs of
this hosting market," said Counse Broders, analyst
with research firm Current Analysis. "It will raise
the bar for players in this space."
