I Host Holds Contest to Give Away a Segway(TM) Human
Transporter [15th July 2003]
BEDFORD, Texas, Jul 15, 2003 /PRNewswire
via COMTEX/ -- Would you like to glide at speeds of
up to 12 mph to the video store, through the halls of
your favorite museum or just around the block on your
own Segway(TM) Human Transporter?
Now you've got a chance with C I Host's
( www.cihost.com ) newest contest to give away what
could be considered an extreme scooter on steroids with
its musical motor, oversized wheels and super-sensitive
balance capabilities.
"We love to give away cool new
products or adventures as a way to let people have fun,"
said Christopher Faulkner, CEO of C I Host. "There's
also a good tie-in because C I Host continually works
to keep our services as cutting edge as possible while
still being hassle-free for small- and medium-sized
business owners."
In the past, C I Host has held contests
that send winners to the edge of space in a MiG-25,
on cruises or provided frequent flyer miles. Its 'Crazy
Deals' program offers seriously marked down prices on
a constantly changing array of products and services.
The contest for the Segway Human Transporter
($4,950 USD), is open to anyone. Consumers who buy services
from C I Host receive one entry for every service they
buy. The Segway Human Transporter (HT) will be awarded
October 1, 2003.
The Segway HT is a self-balancing, personal
transportation device designed to operate in any pedestrian
environment. The person using the HT holds onto the
handlebars and stands on a platform that automatically
adjusts to their forward or backward movement through
a series of solid-state gyroscopes, tilt sensors, high-speed
microprocessors, and powerful electric motors. The two
large-sized wheels are on either side of the person,
rather than the front and back as in a conventional
scooter.
Segway's unique gearbox engineering
produces sound exactly two musical octaves apart, so
that "when the HT moves, it makes music, not noise."
"It's that kind of exactness and
attention to detail that attracted us to Segway's HT
as a contest prize, because it's the same kind of care
we give to every decision we make about C I Host products
and services," Faulkner said.
