Rock Express Selects Inflow to Implement Technology
Strategy; Inflow to Stream Games and Draw Fans to Team's
Site [28th May 2003]
AUSTIN, Texas, May 28, 2003 (BUSINESS
WIRE) -- Today, Inflow Inc., a leading provider of managed
web application hosting and outsourced IT services,
announced that the Round Rock Express, a minor league
baseball team in its fourth season, has selected Inflow
to implement key technology strategies for increasing
interaction between the team and its fans, including
live audio and video streaming of the games.
"Our fans want to interact with
their hometown team. Our website enables them to not
only access information about the organization, but
also view games streamed lived and archived," stated
Round Rock Express President Reid Ryan. "Inflow
is providing us with the capabilities to deliver these
games online -- allowing baseball fans to have a source
of complete access."
Inflow will provide web hosting services
for the Express website, www.roundrockexpress.com, including
the audio and video streaming of each "home"
game. "Away" games will be transmitted in
audio version only.
During the 2002 season the Express introduced
audio and video streaming to its fans all across the
nation. The team received a great response from Internet
viewers, most notably a day game that delivered more
than 1,000 streams to Express fans.
"We are thrilled to become a part
of the Round Rock Express organization," said Cameron
Brown, general manager for Inflow Austin. "Inflow's
expertise in IT solutions delivery matched the Express
requirements. We look forward to building a long lasting
relationship and helping Express fans access their team."
About Round Rock Express
In 1998 the citizens of Round Rock,
Texas, voted overwhelmingly to fund a stadium for minor
league baseball. Over 73% of voters approved the use
of a hotel occupancy tax that would eventually bring
the Express to Round Rock.
Since that time over 2,000,000 fans
have come to watch Round Rock Express games, and over
1,000,000 people annually visit the stadium for other
events as well. The stadium has brought car shows, concerts,
the state high school baseball tournament, an annual
college tournament, corporate functions, weddings and
trade shows in just over three years.
