| Magikmyth
gets a major project [26th September 2003]
Magikmyth Design & Technical Services
has been given a project from Maree Farring Elem. School,
in Baltimore City. The reconstruction of 60 older computer
systems.
Michael Simmons of Magikmyth Design
& Technical Services has volunteered man hours to
Maree Farring Elem. school (PS203). Michael Simmons
has volunteered at Maree Farring for now the second
school year. For the first year was to help Ms. Gray
a second grade teacher.
Now for the second school year (2003-2004),
Ms Gray asked Mr. Simmons to return to her class, in
which he did. However, now Mr. Simmons has gotten more
involved. Mr. Simmons created a grade book so the teachers
of the school can automate the grading process a little.
Now he has been charge with reconstructing old broken
down computers. The computers being worked on have small
harddrives, low memory, in most case just don't work.
The idea is to take the 60 computers swapout parts and
do minor upgrades.
After the project is completed there
should be about 45-50 working computers with about 32
meg ram. These computers will be used for learning basic
word processing and internet research.
Maree Farring is trying to have as many
computers in the school to make sure all children get
computer time. The school currently has over 500 students,
and currently has about 100 newer computers.
The principal, Mr.Thomas Stroschein
says,"That we are going to have a computer for
every child".
Michael Simmons is a supporter of parent
involvement, and suggest that othe parents get involved
in their schools. Magikmyth Design & Technical Services
also ask that if any companies can donate computers
or parts to help with this project, it will greatly
be appreciated, by Michael Simmons, Thomas Stroschein
the principal, Christopher Gress the assistant pricipal,
and the Children.
We would like to thank the staff of
Maree Farring for the opportunity to let us help.
